There are few crews from 30+ years ago still putting their name in the streets as a lot of those enthusiasts from back then have moved on. Like us all, life happens, and sometimes we forget to take our hobbies with us or just happen to replace them with new ones. Think about what you were into 30 years ago and it’s easy to see how difficult maintaining that longevity can sometimes be.
And while Street Image Performance has lasted the test of time, the founding members have passed the name on to both Kane and Pyng, who have been there for most of those 30+ years. It now falls on them to keep the name alive and ensure that it lives another 30 years. And judging by the current roster, they are in good hands.
While mostly based out of SoCal, there are members in other parts as well such as Vegas. But what started as a street racing crew has changed with the times and become more geared towards street cruisers and track machines. The common denominator that has stuck has been the love for imports, mostly (if not fully) those offered by Honda.
There are members like Pyng and Darren who have had their cars both 27 and 24 years, respectively. People like Adam and Edgar who have had their current platforms for for 3-4 years but have had the love for Hondas for much longer than that. And people like Pablo who still have their high school dream car 17 years later while maintaining other projects. And we were fortunate to spend our Sunday getting to know more about them and their own principles as enthusiasts.
There will be more content on each of them individually in the coming days, and we are testing a new format that tries to emulate a video we hold near and dear to our hearts, so look out for those and more as days go by. For now, a thank you to Ping, Adam, Pablo, Edgar, Darren, and Katman for lending us half of their Sunday so we could learn more about SIP, FF Squad, and the evolution of all parties as enthusiasts, humans, and all in between.
